Comparative Analysis of Transitional and New Media

Question: Examine about the Comparative Analysis of Transitional and New Media. Answer: Presentation The job of media an instrument for political plan has consistently been creatively used. Media, as an operator has consistently been the prelude to the general public in this manner its portrayal is completely huge. Actually, the job of media is an observer to the authentic occasions that have occurred in various period. In the as of late finished up US Presidential Election of 2016, the utilization of media has been the idea, because of this gigantic encounter between the two unmistakable up-and-comers. The world was as stun as the preferences by the aftereffects of 2016 decisions, yet no can prevent the effect from claiming media over the happening to results of the political race (Perse Lambe, 2016). Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump the two competitors who were set in opposition to one another, fervently utilized web based life to participate in exercises that was effectively utilized in keeping up cooperation with the supporters. The idea of being viral and connecting with an immense number of individuals, inside a similar field has end up being helpful for cautiously resourcing them into significant loyalty and supporters (Bode 2016). Also, the free for all and ideal utility of a newly discovered media as well; the online networking has connected increasingly general conclusions, more consultation and significantly more impact than the conventional political tricks. Directly from the earliest starting point of the crusades to the battle visits and mass location in colleges and social spots, digitalization has been exceptionally useful in orchestrating, sorting out and actualizing the accompanying plan. Concerning the occasions that followed with the expanding prominence of utilizing online life as a key device was seen in the discretionary battle of Hillary Clinton which was uncovered in Youtube, a famous media website (Fiske Hancock 2016). Then again, Trump has made a transitional section into the special crusade with stock like baseball tops. The keen system embraced for this situation is the political accuracy, which made Donald Trump a progressively conspicuous social figure due to the approaching discussions that developed during his crusade visits. As per an examination ran by Erin Pettigrew, 2016 she uncovers about the online networking society, The upsides of web based life is to flourish with the produced content creation, human affiliation, and verbal advancement abhorrent, proficient , easy, and more significant than customary battling (Pettigrew, 2016). The various vehicles of online networking can be viewed as a tick and its done effective strategy not at all like conventional which rises over a huge period. In this manner, it is important to appreciate and examine the extent of effect of utilizing online life for political achievement, which can form into a potential device in years to come. The mannerisms of the viral data have been utilized as a powerful device to connect with pre-decided objective for winning the certainty of the supporters. In this time of worldwide effort, online life have been exceptionally useful in deciding the momentary plans and having a clever effect. The correspondence examples of conventionalist media specialists is tedious and the effect is very scatter in nature. The impact needs to arrive at its turn point in the models set in the battles of Hillary Clinton where in the gatherings of millennial contributed significantly to her help and her guarantees of enabling all sex sorts of America and not boggle any sort of oppressive guidelines. Then again, the disdain, which Donald Trump got in online life because of his crazy comments and unpalatable activities, has gone about as the problematic hotspot for his picture as a political pioneer (Ceron et al., 2014). The fame of hash label which a key element of online life to section and gather all the important and plenitude of data from alternate point of view under a similar discussion, isn't relevant for transitional media. The new media acts are a much quick speed and it scarcely requires some investment for activities and counter moves to make place. Then again for the most part significant the availability to online networking is a questionable subject, in light of the fact that regularly because of a staggering progression of information over these mediums there are significant odds of fanaticism and errors developing out of it. In this way, online networking has likewise had unfriendly impacts and explanation of this reality is important to start the reason for the near investigation (Allcott Gentzkow, 2017). As indicated by an investigation and perception by a main day by day, New York Times, the hyper-factional highlight of internet based life isn't really helping or encouraging rather it has started to create and produce another activity to political news. It translates the methodology of singling out and rebuilding the most solid gadgets and tropes of activism, advancement and reporting into a powerful new blend (Herrman, 2016). Farhad Manjoo, 2016 where he portrays, has distinctly characterized the contrast between the mediums; hollering at the TV could be the restriction of revolt, contrasted with the moment web component. For this situation of online world the cooperation is significantly more effective and the foes of virtual world meet up to create, websites, abhor and disgracing tweets ,image, reactionary post and fortify their perspective, by thusly breaking into the prevailing press endorsement ( Manjoo, 2016). As indicated by Himelboim, 2016 Twitter is one of the most politically dynamic internet based life systems among its counterparts (Himelbolim et al., 2016). There have been a few investigations that Face-book information uncovered precise forecasts of the presidential races. The cautious system that has developed because of the capacities held by the famous board specialists settling on the outcome is the benefits of the prevalence casts a ballot however on a tricky note, the discretionary vote removed the prize. The effects of Twitter are broad in nature as it is one of the contemporary methodologies of sensationalizing the reality just as the fiction. It is a component of mainstream society and the media flourishes in consideration system (Bennett, 2016).The feeds has a verifiable hugeness over the arrangement of late exercises that have risen in the presidential appointment of the time of 2016 in United Sates of America. End Various impassive perspectives have developed out of the relative investigation between the media jobs in political and get-togethers of the nation. Thusly, it very well may be presumed that however the customary mediums are viewed as the best procedure as it has more trial of time, yet because of the period of far reaching mechanical enhancements, the new media is digging in for the long haul for some time. Indeed, both the medium has a lot of points of interest and hindrances. Subsequently, the investigation uncovered the more noteworthy affectivity level of new media than the transitional one if there should arise an occurrence of the US presidential political decision 2016. Sustaining the Childrens Spirituality in the Learning Process - Essay Example In such a manner they can keep up empathetic and balance learning procedure to make them genius dynamic in school exercises. Through this, they are relied upon to appreciate social attachment and congruity inside and outside of the school. De Souza (2004) affirmed that Values Education and Clarification have been considered by the state as critical to be coordinated into the educational plan to show students virtues as a helpful device in characterizing their great connection with the remainder of mankind and creation. Since the 1960s, virtues are a noteworthy bundle in the development of the learners’ full of feeling spaces to incorporate their passionate, attitudinal, values and beliefs’ developments (De Souza, 2004). Specialists accepted that qualities and good are subordinates of peoples’ emotive sense and, accordingly, are not seen as applicable in their psychological being (De Souza, 2004). Subsequently, it’s this polarity of human presence that made it confounding and hard to show up at a typical comprehension of estimations of training (De Souza, 2004). OCD and Substance Use Disorders

OCD and Substance Use Disorders OCD Living With OCD Print OCD and Substance Use Disorders Substance Use Is an Unhealthy Coping Mechanism for OCD Symptoms By Owen Kelly, PhD Medically reviewed by Medically reviewed by Steven Gans, MD on August 05, 2016 Steven Gans, MD is board-certified in psychiatry and is an active supervisor, teacher, and mentor at Massachusetts General Hospital. Learn about our Medical Review Board Steven Gans, MD Updated on January 27, 2020 Sebastian Leesch / EyeEm / Getty Images More in OCD Living With OCD Causes Symptoms and Diagnosis Treatment Types Related Conditions Because substances like alcohol and drugs are often used to try to suppress thoughts and feelings, people affected by obsessive-compulsive disorder  (OCD) are at greater risk for developing substance use disorders. Although alcohol and drug use may initially mask OCD symptoms, in the long run using substances can make symptoms worse, interfere with treatment and disrupt supportive relationships.   What Is a Substance Use Disorder? Before examining the relationship between OCD and substance use disorders, we first need to outline what a substance use disorder is. There are two main kinds of substance use disorders: substance dependence and substance abuse. Substance Dependence To be diagnosed with substance dependence, you must have three or more of the following symptoms at any time within the same year: Greatly increased tolerance, meaning that you need more and more of the substance to get the desired effect.Psychological (e.g., anxiety, depression) and/or physical withdrawal symptoms (e.g., shakes, nausea) when you stop using the substance.Use of larger amounts of the substance than was intended or use of the substance over a longer period of time than planned.A strong desire, but lack of ability, to quit the substance or many unsuccessful efforts to stop using the substance.A great deal of time spent obtaining the substance, using the substance or recovering from its effects.Giving up important social, occupational or recreational activities to use the substance.Continued use of the substance despite psychological or physiological problems caused by it. Substance Abuse To be diagnosed with substance abuse, you must demonstrate one or more of the following symptoms within the same year: Recurrent substance use that leads to failure to fulfill obligations at work, school or at home.Repeatedly using a substance in situations in potentially dangerous situations, such as driving a car or operating a machine.Recurrent problems with the law because of substance use.Continued use of the substance despite interpersonal problems caused by the substance. OCD and Substance Use Disorders It has been estimated that nearly 30% of people with OCD have had a substance use disorder at some point in their lives. This is nearly double the rate of the general population.  Although the rate of substance use disorders is high among people with OCD, it is lower than those of many other forms of mental illness including bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. Even though the OCD symptoms of people who develop substance use disorders are similar to those with OCD who do not, research has demonstrated that those who develop substance use disorders are often less educated, often have other forms of mental illness in addition to OCD, and had OCD symptoms that began at an early age. Indeed, most people report that their OCD symptoms started well before they developed a substance use disorder. Its important to note that people with OCD who develop substance use disorders are at a greater risk for suicide and hospitalization. Substance Use Disorders and the Treatment of OCD Symptoms Many people with OCD begin to use substances as a form of self-medication either to directly reduce the severity of their obsessions or compulsions or to decrease the distress associated with the consequences of living with OCD, including problems in relationships or difficulties at work. In effect, substance use can be thought of as a coping strategy. However, substance use is a particularly poor coping strategy if it allows you to avoid dealing with the actual source of your distress. So, while using substances may make you feel better temporarily, your OCD symptoms will continue to get worse and your relationships will continue to deteriorate. This, in turn, may cause  more substance use, which only helps you avoid the problem even more. In addition, by masking your anxiety, substances can interfere with the exposure exercises that are essential to many psychological treatments for OCD. If you have a substance use disorder, your treatment needs to focus on substituting substance use with more adaptive coping strategies. These include strategies to help you gain more comfortable dealing directly with symptoms and their associated difficulties. While this can initially generate even higher levels of anxiety, the long-term payoff is developing better tools for dealing with OCD symptoms.

Thes Equations Of The Universe - 1749 Words

Isaac Newton, famous for his equations of the forces of the universe, has been put to the test by Einstein himself. Although Newton has found the numbers and equations to describe gravity and the way nature is, he has not figured out how it really works. Einstein noticed this, and learned that space, gravity, and time work together like a Spiral Wishing Well. He says that space is flat with no matter, but when there is matter, like the earth, the fabric of space warps and curves. One must imagine the hole of the Spiral Wishing Well as the earth and the penny rotating around it is like the moon to see how space warps and how the medium that affects gravity is space itself. With this in mind, many other theorists and physicists began to use Einsteins theory to promote their own. On October 9th, 1885, a man named Theodor Kaluza was born in Poland. Brought up by two professor as parents, Kaluza gained much interest in education and science from a young age. His ultimate goal was t o find one theory that describes all of nature s forces in one unified equation. In light of this and years of research and partnering with Einstein, he came up with a very bold and bizarre idea that affects the way present day physicists and mathematicians view of the world around them. Kaluza believed that if Einstein could describe the force of gravity with warps and curves, then he could do the same thing with another force. At the time, the only other force was electromagnetic force,

Was Hamlet Mad and to what degree to do you consider it Essay Example For Students

Was Hamlet Mad and to what degree to do you consider it? Essay Madness can be seen as mental incapacity caused by unmentionable injury. These wounds are not often easily perceived but may revealed in times of stress or anxiety similar to Hamlets situation where his father has been blatantly murdered, yet it is not obvious to others. In Shakespeares time, people would have looked upon Hamlet as mad, but they believed madness to be symptomatic of demonic possession, and the only way of driving out the evil was through burning to death. Although people feared madness, Hamlet was and still is one of the most popular of Shakespeares plays, as his madness cannot be defined. Some believe madness to be the lack of rational thought or the result of a feeling of intense anger. Hamlet simulates madness and uses it as a disguise and in doing so he places himself so dangerously close to the line between sanity and insanity that he crosses it without even realising it. At the beginning of the play, Hamlet is seen wearing dark robes and acting in a general melancholic way. We will write a custom essay on Was Hamlet Mad and to what degree to do you consider it? specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The queen instructs him to, ast thy knighted colour off, Hamlet, also describes himself as wearing an inky cloak and customary suits of solemn black. It is clear from the description of his clothes that he is severely depressed at the death of his father. This is linked to the characteristic melancholic manner that the Elizabethan audience would have looked upon and identified as being mad. When Horatio first mentions the sighting of the ghost, he says, My lord I think I saw him yesternight. This, at first comes as a shock to Hamlet as he then starts asking Horatio frantic questions about the sighting, Saw? Who? He is in disbelief that such a thing could happen and it is here that we see the first indications of Hamlets extremist nature. The ghost appears for the second time and again we see yet more frantic behaviour as he is desperate to go with the ghost, Unhand me gentlemen.. I say away go! Go on. Ill follow thee He threatens Horatio and the other guards as they attempt to stop him from following the ghost. This does not indicate madness, but again shows that he is irrational, just that he is careless of the consequences. However, the scene with the ghost also reveals perhaps the beginning of Hamlets illness. Although Horatio and Marcellus see the ghost, it is only Hamlet that can hear him. Also, as well as not thinking before following the ghost, he is irrational when the ghost tells him of the murder page 90 as the ghost tells Hamlet that he will want to seek revenge over his murder. Any rational person would have possibly thought more about any decision involving taking a persons life. The ghost is a significant factor in attempting to decide whether Hamlet is truly mad. When the ghost appears, other people here it and see it, but it is only Hamlet who can hear the ghost and then when the ghost appears in his mothers chamber, she neither hears or sees it whilst Hamlet can both hear it and see it. This can be considered to be proof that Hamlet is mad. When Hamlet meets the ghost it is quite soon after the death of his father and before this he is acting strangely; dressing in dark clothes and being melancholic, and so when he hears the ghost, it is an indication that Hamlet has actually crossed the line between sanity and insanity due to the death of his father. This would also compensate for the fact that he pretends to be mad which in itself is odd enough. Further through the play, there are increasingly worrying signs that Hamlet is actually going mad as the ghost appears only to him when no one around can see it. This could be considered a result of the weeks since the death of his father. So, in this sense, Hamlet is mad, but only caused by the severe depression that the death of his father caused. On the contrary to this idea, Hamlet may not actually be mad, and that it is all an, act as he said that it would be. .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 , .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .postImageUrl , .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 , .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33:hover , .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33:visited , .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33:active { border:0!important; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33:active , .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33 .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u7764f75a92776bd4af1654401ca1cf33:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Hamlet - Nature and Morals EssayHowever, I feel that this is not really a probable scenario as there are many instances in the play where, although Hamlet may appear to be sane when looked at more closely, really reveal that he is not at all aware of the people around him. When Hamlet is sent to England he knows that he was sent there for the English king to kill him. Claudius arranged this, and he knows this. He says, I have words to speak in thine ear that would make thee numb. By writing this in his letter, he tells Horatio that he has survived the kings assassination attempt and that he will be returning home shortly. However, when he returns it is senseless of him to think that although Claudius murder attempt did not work that he would not try again, yet Hamlet seems unaware of it. As well as Hamlet not fearing that Claudius will not attempt to kill him again, he still believes that Laertes is his friend, even though his fathers death and his sisters death were caused by Hamlet. He says, Wast Hamlet wronged Laertes? Never Hamlet. By using a rhetorical question that he does not expect him to answer, Hamlet assumes that Laertes is not mad with him even though he caused the death of his sister. He almost has a child like trust for Laertes and this can be seen as another symptom of the madness that Hamlet seems to possess. However, although Hamlet does show ignorance towards people that, if he were sane, he would have realised perhaps what they planned to do, ho does after realise that he has killed Rosencrantz and Guildernstern. This is the turning point where Hamlet realises just what he has done. Hamlet, after this shows more sense in his words and so it could be argued that he was never actually mad and that it was merely all an act, but this cannot account for sightings of the ghost and his confused speech. Although it may seem strange, Hamlet is does appear to be jealous of his mothers marriage to his uncle. I believe that it is not only due to the fact that Claudius murdered his father to become king and marry his mother, but also because of the sexual relationship between them, O most wicked speed, to post / With such dexterity This, like the murder of his father leads to the powerful emotions that Hamlet displays in his soliloquies. When the players come to the palace to perform for Hamlet and he has the ingenious idea of acting out his fathers murder in a similar scenario. This is due to Hamlets inability to undertake the task, as he is extremely indecisive so that although he wants to avenge his fathers death, he cannot bring himself to do it. Whilst Claudius watches the play, Hamlet is agitated and displays erratic behaviour, Lady, shall I lie in your lap? What Hamlet says is quite inappropriate and makes Ophelia quite uncomfortable with the situation. After watching the scene of the murder, Claudius demands some light and exits. Hamlet, after seeing his reaction, acts very excited at the fact that he has almost caught him out and reveals to Claudius that he knows exactly what happened. Hamlet could see both sane and insane at this point as he did arrange and write the play carefully depicting what happened and also with some of the queens own words in, but to be seen as mentally unstable is more likely as he displays antic behaviour at the exit of Claudius and also before this as well. The play was only really written to take the revenge that the ghost spoke of and so if hearing the ghost was a product of his depression then the play can also be considered this. Whether it is false insanity or not, Hamlet is clearly angry with Claudius for murdering his father and also with his mother as she married his uncle. He clearly disapproves of the marriage and so he says, O God, a beast that wants discourse of reason / Would have mourned longer married with my uncle. Although he is unhappy about the marriage as he cannot understand why his mother, who loved his late father so much that she could so quickly marry his brother. He also is frustrated as he cannot speak out openly against the king and queen otherwise he would be accused of treason. .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 , .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .postImageUrl , .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 , .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908:hover , .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908:visited , .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908:active { border:0!important; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908:active , .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908 .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .udc2769a3c51169401a9ee86ae8637908:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Commentary - Shakespeare Hamlet EssayHamlet can also be considered mad as he uses mixed metaphors. Whether he means to or not is unclear as on one hand, at the beginning of the play he states that he will act mad so that he can cover up his strange behaviour, If like a crab, you could go backward. Saying this to Polonius further convinces him that he is mad although its only purpose may be to deceive him The main theme in about Hamlet is his indecision. He wants to avenge the death of his father but he cannot bring himself to do any thing about it. His indecisiveness also shows at the beginning of the play where Hamlet cannot bring himself to end his life, O that this too too solid flesh would melt. Here, his indecisiveness also reveals that he is extremely depressed and that he cannot even bear to end his own life. As well as there being evidence for Hamlet being mad, there is also evidence that contradicts this. Although Hamlet wants revenge for his dead father if he were in fact truly mad, then immediately after the meeting with the ghost he would have began plotting the death of the king. However, we do see Hamlet constantly thinking about the murder. When he sees Claudius praying in the hall, his first instinct is to kill him there, but after thought, he decides that it would be best not to as the king would go to heaven as he died whilst praying, Now might I do it pat, now a tis a-praying. And now Ill dot. And so a foes to heaven. This control and thought could contradict the idea that Hamlet is mad, as I have previously described him as indecisive and irrational. This proves further that Hamlet is not truly mad, but is simply putting on an act. One of the main reasons that is holding Hamlet back from killing the king, along with his indecisiveness, is the fact that the king is appointed by God and so by killing the king, he is betraying God, which would have been a terrible crime in Shakespeares and Hamlets day. Again this display of control and planning opposes previous observations as if he were mad, it would not matter to him how the king died, as long as he was dead so this also reveals more evidence that Hamlet is not insane. In conclusion, I believe that Hamlet is mad. I agree with the definition of madness that it is the mental incapacity caused by an unmentionable injury. Throughout the play, no one mentions old Hamlets suspicious death and it is only Hamlet who knows. As he has no other proof, apart from what the ghost apparently told him, he cannot announce it. His silence is also due to him not speaking his feelings aloud as it would be considered treason. The murder then becomes the unmentionable injury and Hamlet shows this with his moody behaviour and inky clothes. It is due to the murder of his father that triggers it all off as from then, we see his mental health decline. I have previously mentioned evidence that may contradict this view such as the periods of apparent sanity that he displays, however, this may be his way of convincing himself that he does not have an illness. His madness was borne from anger over the murder of his father, the succession of his uncle and the marriage of his mother. This raw emotion silently bubbled within Hamlet leading to the steady deterioration of his mind.

6 Networking Tips for Teachers in a Tough Job Market

6 Networking Tips for Teachers in a Tough Job Market The job market is a pretty brutal place for new teachers these days. There are a ton of teaching grads out there and not a lot of jobs. You might get lucky and get a job from placement, but if you don’t, you’ll be out there on the hunt. What you may not have realized is just how important networking will end up being for your job search process. You probably don’t even feel as though you have much of a network to network with at this point! But here are a few tips and strategies for making the best of where you are, and building up a network that will not only help you get  hired but will keep your early career afloat.1. Apply to places you really want to work.No one will pluck your file out of the pile if it looks like you’re applying there just as you would anywhere, with no special interest in the gig. Start early and show up at schools for visits. Ask for information. The good ones will reward your interest and be impressed by your initiative.2. Join a union.Teachers’ unions are your friends. Join up. Go to the meetings. Attend conferences. You’ll meet tons of educators this way and some of them will even be in a position to hire you, once they have you on their radar. The American Federation of  Teachers (AFT) is free for student teachers to join, so you have no excuse. Get in there and start asking your elders for advice!3. Seek out like-minded groups of professionals.Join teacher groups or meet-ups. Stay in touch with former colleagues- plus professors and counselors you’ve worked with in the course of your educational career. Get business cards and make sure you’re giving yours out too. Network your little teacher bottom off and eventually, something good will come of it; the more connections you have, the better off you’ll be.There are even plenty of online forums for you to check-out if your time or geographical location is limited. And while you’re at it, go to education-relate d community events to meet your fellow teaching geeks.4. Volunteer to get noticed.Volunteer at a school you want to work for, whether in athletics or just doing grunt work for your Associate Teacher. This shows your dedication and interest. Just be sure to commit to your commitment- flaking out will never get you hired. Volunteering is also a great way for you to explore areas of education to which you might not have otherwise been exposed. Who knows, maybe you’ll find an area to pursue that you might not previously have considered.5. Consider relief teaching.A lot of new teachers say they built up a reputation by doing relief teaching. It never hurts to get out there and pinch hit- particularly when you can be a hero. Get yourself on the rosters of several schools and keep on networking. This is especially great if fall rolls around and you still don’t have a permanent gig.6. Keep an open mind.Remember, you don’t know where your next job will come from. It can often come from the least expected corner of your network. Never turn down a connection because you can’t see how a job could come of it. Embrace everyone and keep your mind open and your resume ready to circulate and you’ll do fine.

Ignacio Allende, Champion of Mexican Independence

Ignacio Allende, Champion of Mexican Independence Ignacio Josà © de Allende y Unzaga (January 21, 1769–June 26, 1811) was a Mexican-born officer in the Spanish army who switched sides and fought for independence. He fought in the early part of the conflict alongside the â€Å"Father of Mexican Independence,† Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. Although Allende and Hidalgo had some initial success against the Spanish colonial forces, both were eventually captured and executed in 1811. Fast Facts: Ignacio Allende Known For: Taking up arms in the cause of Mexican independenceAlso Known As: Ignacio Josà © de Allende y UnzagaBorn: January 21, 1769 in San Miguel el Grande,  Guanajuato,  New Spain (now  San Miguel de Allende, Mexico)Parents: Domingo Narciso de Allende, Marà a Ana de UnzagaDied: June 26, 1811 in Chihuahua,  Nueva Vizcaya,  New Spain (now Mexico)Spouse: Maria de la Luz Agustina de las Fuentes  Children: Indalecio Allende,  Josà © Guadalupe Allende,  Juana Marà a Allende Early Life Allende was born to a wealthy Creole family in the town of San Miguel el Grande (the name of the town is now San Miguel de Allende in his honor) on January 21, 1769. As a young man, he led a life of privilege and joined the army while in his 20s. He was an able officer, and some of his promotions would come at the hands of his future foe General Fà ©lix Calleja. By 1808 he returned to San Miguel, where he was put in charge of a royal cavalry regiment. Conspiracies Allende apparently became convinced fairly early on of the need for Mexico to become independent from Spain, perhaps as early as 1806. There was evidence that he was part of an underground conspiracy in Valladolid in 1809, but he was not punished, probably because the conspiracy was quashed before it could go anywhere and he was a skilled officer from a good family. In early 1810, he became involved in another conspiracy, this one led by Mayor of Querà ©taro Miguel Domà nguez and his wife. Allende was a valued leader because of his training, contacts, and charisma. The revolution was set to begin in December 1810. El Grito de Dolores The conspirators secretly ordered weapons and spoke to influential Creole military officers, bringing many over to their cause. But in September 1810, they got word that their conspiracy had been found out and warrants were issued for their arrests. Allende was in Dolores on September 15 with Father Hidalgo when they heard the bad news. They decided to start the revolution then and there as opposed to hiding. The next morning, Hidalgo rang the church bells and gave his legendary â€Å"Grito de Dolores† or Cry of Dolores, in which he exhorted the poor of Mexico to take up arms against their Spanish oppressors. The Siege of Guanajuato Allende and Hidalgo suddenly found themselves at the head of an angry mob. They marched on San Miguel, where the mob murdered Spaniards and looted their homes: it must have been difficult for Allende to see this happen in his hometown. After passing through the town of Celaya, which wisely surrendered without a shot, the mob marched on the city of Guanajuato where 500 Spaniards and royalists had fortified the large public granary and prepared to fight. The angry mob fought the defenders for five hours before overrunning the granary, massacring all inside. Then they turned their attention to the city, which was sacked. Monte de Las Cruces The insurgent army continued to make its way toward Mexico City, which began to panic when word of the horrors of Guanajuato reached its citizens. Viceroy Francisco Xavier Venegas hastily scraped together all of the infantry and cavalries he could muster and sent them out to meet the rebels. The royalists and insurgents met on October 30, 1810, at the Battle of Monte de las Cruces not far outside of Mexico City. The barely 1,500 royalists fought bravely but could not defeat the horde of 80,000 insurgents. Mexico City appeared to be within the reach of the rebels. Retreat With Mexico City within their grasp, Allende and Hidalgo did the unthinkable: they retreated back toward Guadalajara. Historians are unsure why they did: all agree that it was a mistake. Allende was in favor of pressing on, but Hidalgo, who controlled the masses of peasants and Indians making up the bulk of the army, overrode him. The retreating army was caught in a skirmish near Aculco by a larger force led by General Calleja and split up: Allende went to Guanajuato and Hidalgo to Guadalajara. Schism Although Allende and Hidalgo agreed on independence, they disagreed on much, particularly on how to wage war. Allende, the professional soldier, was aghast at Hidalgo’s encouragement of the looting of towns and the executions of all Spaniards they came across. Hidalgo argued that the violence was necessary and that without the promise of loot, most of their army would desert. Not all of the army was made up of angry peasants: there were some Creole army regiments, and these were almost all loyal to Allende: when the two men split up, most of the professional soldiers went to Guanajuato with Allende. The Battle of Calderon Bridge Allende fortified Guanajuato, but Calleja, turning his attention to Allende first, drove him out. Allende was forced to retreat to Guadalajara and rejoin Hidalgo. There, they decided to make a defensive stand at the strategic Calderon Bridge. On January 17, 1810, Calleja’s well-trained royalist army met the insurgents there. It seemed that the vast insurgent numbers would carry the day, but a lucky Spanish cannonball ignited a rebel munitions dump, and in the ensuing chaos the undisciplined rebels scattered. Hidalgo, Allende and the other insurgent leaders were forced out of Guadalajara, most of their army gone. Death As they made their way north, Allende had finally had enough of Hidalgo. He stripped him of command and arrested him. Their relationship had already deteriorated so badly that Allende had tried to poison Hidalgo while they were both in Guadalajara before the battle of Calderà ³n Bridge. Hidalgo’s removal became a moot point on March 21, 1811, when Ignacio Elizondo, an insurgent commander, betrayed and captured Allende, Hidalgo and the other insurgency leaders as they made their way north. The leaders were sent to the city of Chihuahua, where all were tried and executed. Allende, Juan Aldama, and Mariano Jimenez were killed on June 26, while Hidalgo died on July 30. Their four heads were sent to hang on the corners of the public granary of Guanajuato. Legacy It was unfortunate for the Mexicans involved in the struggle for Independence that Hidalgo and Allende quarreled so bitterly. In spite of their differences, the tactician and soldier and the charismatic priest made a very good team, something they realized at the end when it was too late. Allende is today remembered as one of the great leaders of the early Mexican Independence movement, and his remains rest in Mexico City’s hallowed Independence Column alongside those of Hidalgo, Jimà ©nez, Aldama, and others. His hometown of San Miguel el Grande was renamed in his honor: San Miguel de Allende. Sources Harvey, Robert. Liberators: Latin America’s Struggle for Independence. Sequestration Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Sequestration - Essay Example Sequestration idea was implemented as part of 2011-budget control act. In fact, both parties agreed that approximately $1 trillion to be cut from the federal government; however, they did not agree on the next steps to salvage the nations fiscal budget (Genovese, 2010). Moreover, there some quarters that proposed the increment of the national borrowing toward creating defaults that could have emerged from the damages of the Sequestration. Borrowing from the Reagan era law, there was an argument that there was needed to achieve goals including raising the borrowing limit but improving the national fiscal standing (Genovese, 2010). Sequestration idea is simple; it only calls for scheduling for automatic cuts for the future national budgets. However, Sequestration may be harmful for everyone; therefore, the congress should implement better and smoother cuts before implementing Sequestration fully (Genovese, 2010). Sequestration was planned to start this year but the lawmakers have delayed it; nonetheless, it is expected to take effect as of this

Emotional Intelligence as Applied to Sales Essay

Emotional Intelligence as Applied to Sales - Essay Example In the first example, I went with three friends to have breakfast at a local pancake house. While a waitress position is often thought of as a service, it is important to remember that part of her job is selling a return visit. Our waitress met us with a pleasant attitude and projected friendliness. She seemed to immediately pick up on the individual mood of the person she was addressing and adjust her responses accordingly. This was done verbally as well as non-verbally through the use of expression and body movement. I felt welcome, familiar, and comfortable. Her level of service was excellent and she seemed to have a sense of what was needed and when it was needed. She refilled the coffee in a timely fashion at various points in the meal and checked at the appropriate times to see if we needed anything else. She also inquired shortly after we began to eat whether everything was all right. The order was correct and the food was on the same high level as the waitress. By observing this waitress and evaluating her service it became clear that she had a high degree of EI. This trait enabled her to anticipate our needs and follow the three golden rules of sales. She could adjust her communication to make you feel familiar. This was accomplished through slight verbal variations and facial expressions that felt warm and non-threatening. In addition, she had fulfilled her responsibility to the restaurant by selling a return visit and creating a repeat customer. The Tire Salesmen I had accompanied a friend of mine to a Wal-Mart store to get new tires installed on his car. Before we left the house, we gathered all the information we needed regarding the tire size and style that he wanted to purchase. At the store, there were two employees behind the counter that were simply standing there while we looked over the inventory. My friend had decided to get a tire one size larger than the tires that were on the car, which had come with minimum tires as a cost saving measure. We inquired about the location of the tires and the employee motioned in the area and said 'all the tires are over there'. He offered no assistance in explaining the various prices, styles, and applications for the tires. We finally located the tires we were looking for at an acceptable price. However, when we brought the car inside he said he couldn't sell them because Wal-Mart has a store policy of only selling and mounting the manufacturer's original size. They showed little if any compassion or emotions about our dilemma. His attitude was one of neglect and uncaring. His level of emotional intelligence was very low, and he was subsequently forced to violate the golden rules of selling. While we understood that he was following store policy, he didn't seem to care about the trouble we had gone through. The Carpet Installer I recently helped an acquaintance of mine move some furniture when she was having some new carpet installed in her home. She was having the whole house carpeted and it required shuffling furniture around as the installers worked. The installer had the foresight to make a visit to the home prior to installation to advise my friend on the sequence of rooms and where the furniture could be moved to as he progressed. This simple step was extremely helpful and

Lessons Learned :: Personal Narrative Friendship Essays

Lessons Learned â€Å"Hey hun, how did ya sleep?† my husband Max said as he gave me a quick peck on the cheek. â€Å"Fine. What time is your meeting?† I asked â€Å"The Board is meeting at noon and then I have another briefing at 2.† He took a sip of his orange juice and asked, â€Å"What do you have planned for today?† â€Å"Well... ya know it’s Lucy’s birthday, I thought I would go see her.† â€Å"Okay I gotta go, try to be home before 5. We’ll go out to dinner. Ohh and can you pick Emily up from school at 4, I won’t be able to,† he said as he tightened his tie, grabbed his briefcase and then vanished through the kitchen door, not waiting for my reply. I went upstairs to change out of my pajamas. I grabbed a faded pair of jeans and pulled my sun-streaked hair into a loose ponytail. I grabbed the gift that I had bought for Lucy and headed out the front door. In a few minutes I was heading away from my sub-division and steering my Lincoln Navigator onto the expressway. I let my mind drift upon thoughts of my best friend. Lucy White and I had been best friends since the day we met in kindergarten. She caught my eye while standing in the corner crying for her mom. I wanted to cry too, but was too afraid. I thought she was pretty cool because she could wear her long stringy blonde hair down, and I had to wear mine tightly pulled back and stiffly braided. I still remember her standing there in her new Jordache jeans and sucking her thumb when I went up to her and said, â€Å"My mom told me that only babies suck their thumbs.† She quickly pulled the drool soaked finger out of her mouth and stopped crying. From then on she was always following my lead. I thought of how I could always convince her to do the things that I knew were wrong but wanted to find out about anyways.

Philosophy as Metaphysics Essay

ABSTRACT: Philosophy works with special types of objects: the totalities. The basic characteristics of this type of object are their metaphysical, transcendental, and total character. The character of these objects determines the specificity of language and the methods of philosophy. The language of philosophy represents symbolic language; speculation is the basic method of philosophy. On the one hand, objects of this type emphasis homo sapien as essences capable of constructing such objects, which in turn assumes the ability of human consciousness to make synthetic acts. On the basis of philosophy as metaphysics, an original approach is offered which divides the history of philosophy into periods as well as providing analysis of different philosophical systems. Feature of philosophical activity, as against a science, is the work with special, not physical objects — the totalities, which are constituted by the philosopher. One of such objects is the world, and, in this sense, we often say, that philosophy is a wel-tanschauung (world-outlook) . Certainly, the world as some set of things can be studied by physics (sciences in a broad sense), but in this case a researcher can miss the point that the world is a totality, not just a simple set of things. As distinct from scientific study the philosophy takes its objects as the totalities, which the subject of knowledge cannot study as ordinary objects, because the including the learning subject character of these the totalities excludes any standard scientific approach to knowledge in principle. Others examples of the above mentioned objects (the totalities) are Ego and God. Objects of this type (with some reservations) are a lot of human being phenomena, such as love, virtue, conscience, courage, bravery, understanding and so on. All these objects are those, that the precise fixing of objective criteria of their existence is impossible, it is impossible to create the high-grade theory of these phenomena (for example, theory of love or bravery), as they assume not only objective Contemplator (as it occurs in case of objects of scientific knowledge), but also postulate the Actor inside them, that causes essentially twinkling way of them being. (2) Exactly the character of these objects determined essential features of the philosophizing as metaphysical activity. The underlining of metaphysical character of philosophy objects dictates the special procedures of work with them, distinct from of methods of scientific knowledge. Metaphysical objects — constructs cannot be given in frameworks of physical experience; the study — constructing of these objects occurs by a way of thinking means, procedures of speculation. That is why the one of the most typical mistakes in the researching of these objects is procedures of naturalization metaphysical objects, i. e. consideration of natural (physical) analogs of these objects. For example, instead of work with the world (the world as totality) we consider the world as some sets of physical, chemical, biological etc. objects, and instead of the analysis of phenomenon of consciousness proper as metaphysical object the natural analog of consciousness — brain or mentality of the particular human being, we examine. Specifying the status of these objects, it is possible to tell, that the subject of the philosophy activity are metaphysical-transcendental objects, i. e. objects having the boundary status of their existence. The boundary character of these objects allows to specify Kantian distinction sensible phenomena and transcendent things in itself. Moreover, metaphysical-transcendental objects are located on border of other known distinctions of classical philosophy. (3) They are, for example, not subjective and not objective, not conscious and not material. It is interesting in this respect appearance of the first proper philosophical category of being, which, in fact, was entered Parmenid`s as boundary metaphysical-transcendental object being-thinking (in this case, alongside with Parmenid`s postulating his first thesis, entering a category of being, presence of the second his thesis, establishing the coincidence of an entered category of being with another category — the category of thinking). In some sense, metaphysical-transcendental objects are Husserl`s phenomenal, from which as a result of procedures of objectivizing and (or) subjectivizing the subjects and objects can be received, i. e. is entered subjective-objective distinction of New time. On the other hand, the boundary character of these objects allows still to work with them ( I specially avoid the term to learn, as far as these procedures are applied only for work with usual objects). Above this mode of working with them was named as speculation, which, as a result, the construction of these objects to occur by a way of thinking means. The creation such thinking construct is caused by that the person aspires to understand mode of functioning of the totalities, which surround him. And just this phenomenon of surprise before presence of such totalities is a beginning and basic nerve of philosophy. In this sense, philosophizing is possible only as an act of work of the beings, capable to postulate these totalities, due to synthetic acts (Kant), as being, perceiving the environmental world not in itself, but by means of symbolical function (Cassirer), through a prism of the transformed forms (Marx, Mamardaschvili). Another important characteristic of metaphysical objects is their total-making nature. It means, that the purpose of designing such objects is the attempt of understanding of some phenomenon of totality (for example, the world as whole, totality) in light of a question how (why) this phenomenon is possible?. The answer to this question assumes revealing mechanism of existence of this phenomenon. That is why it is important for the philosopher not to know some common aspect, that is allowed at a level of the primary, superficial description of it and other similar objects, but to know general (total) principle of functioning of objects of this type. For example, if a row of the plane polygons is given to us, a triangle(4) will act as general principle of this variety, because all others plane polygons can be given with the help of a triangle. Thus, philosophical constructs act as transcendental condition of seeing of other physical objects. That the phenomenon of seeing of a house was possible as some totality, it is necessary to postulate a row of transcendental conditions of this phenomenon, among them we can allocate necessity being of the house (Parmenid), recognition (and taking shape) this being by means of idea of home (Plato), fixing the house as an object of perception by some subject (Decartes) within spatial-temporary a priory forms of sensuality (Kant). On the other hand, a row of such philosophical constructs define a horizon, a way of seeing of subjects (Wittgenstein), associated with a certain epoch. For example, the mentioned above transcendental conditions of a phenomenon of seeing of a house define a way of seeing of subjects within the framework of classical philosophy. In this sense these constructs act as total-necessary cultural machines, that set the cultural way of living activity of the person and made imperceptible but essential background of his existence. For example, when a modern man looks at star sky, he sees not simply separate stars, but constellations — and it is impossible to explain to a person from other culture (and the more so, being, which is not having ability to the synthetic acts). Moreover, developing this example with constructing of constellations, it is possible to tell, that exactly it has made possible occurrence of such activity as an astrology. The above mentioned metaphysical character of philosophy objects causes the specification of the language and methods philosophizing. The language of philosophy has not signal, but symbolical character. Let’s stop on it hardly more in detail. Already science differs from the common sense description, because it uses some abstraction, ideal elements, which, in a common case, it is impossible to compare any certain objects of the physical validity. For example, as D. Gilbert says, in mathematics, those are language fictions, and one of the main problems of a substantiation of mathematics is either an exception these fictions, or imposing some certain restrictions — all that prevent the appearance of negative consequences, while using language fictions. Any language works with signs, besides that, any theory deals with mentioned language fictions (=  «symbols »), i. e. such kinds of signs, with which nothing corresponds in sensible reality. For example, in physics has concepts a material point, an absolutely black body, etc. They are often called as abstract — ideal objects, which turn out by a way of abstraction (idealization) from any properties of real physical objects. But in physics there are and more fictitious objects: cwarcks, for example, which not only is evident not imagine, but also until last time have acted only as theoretical constructs essentially of unobservable nature. In this case we can postulate a metaphysical mode of existence for these objects. It is important to emphasize, that these metaphysical objects do not exist in the same sense, as it is for the particular objects of a physical reality, such as table, chair, etc. The majority of the philosophy terms, its categorical apparatus have such symbolical character. It is impossible to give any referents of philosophical categories inside a physical reality. We can take as an example of such philosophical categories as being, consciousness etc. , for which we can somehow find certain physical analogues (for example, for a philosophical category  «being  » such analogue is the category  «substance » or matter). But there are more humanitarian objects connected with some features of a human being way, for which in general there are no analogues in a nature. These are, for example, concepts virtue, conscience, love, debt, bravery†¦ This specification of the philosophy language, which symbols indicate an existence of a special metaphysical dimension of a reality could be expressed by Kantian exclamation â€Å"Excuse me, but it is not, what I speak about (mean)! † in reply to German poet Schiller`s misunderstanding his categorical imperative. The metaphysical character of the categorical philosophical apparatus predetermines also specification of philosophical reasoning. The postulated non-sense character of perception of objects of the filosophizing assumes the special procedures of work, which were above characterized as a procedure of speculation. The main difficulty thus — is absence of a support on sensible analogy, which often helps us in daily life. The structure a reasoning about pure being (or conscience) is principle different from the reasoning about a tree, or a sex, or other objects of the physical world. Danger, which here waits us — influence of our vital experience, influence sensible hooks, which can destroy the ability for the reflex and philosophical analysis. To explain the idea about involuntary influence ours sensible apparatus, M. Mamardaschvili in the lectures about M. Proust, used as an example biblical commandment when they beat you on the one cheek — put another one as a vivid example of inhibition (Husserl`s  «phenomenological reduction ») of a standard human reaction (reflex), imposed to us by sense-figurative thinking (if somebody hearts you — reply with the same). Moreover, it is possible, that some other logic operates in area of speculative objects, distinct from usual, earthly logic. In particular, according to opinion of the Russian philosopher and the logic N. A. Vasiljev, validity of the logic law of excluded third, has purely earthly an origin and it is connected with primacy, after Aristotle, of individual existing things. (5) If we, following Plato, consider classes of subjects as primary (for instance, subject a class of tables), the law of excluded third will be incorrect, as the table as one of set of subjects of a class of tables can be simultaneously both white and non-white (in instance, green). Of course, here it is necessary to realize, that the opposite properties are attributed to the different individuals of primary â€Å"subject† — different things of the same class). The transfer of the point of view from single objects to classes of objects has allowed N.Vasiljev to formulate imagined logic with the law of excluded fourth. This logic in anything does not concede on its parameters to our habitual logic with the law of excluded third, but expands opportunities of our thinking. Within the framework of this logic the paradoxical coincidence between maximum and minimum, revealed Nikolaj from Kuza, does not cause surprise. The only acceptable procedure for understanding of philosophical categories within of some philosophical framework is the correlation of the different speculative (metaphysics) objects with the help of a method language game.

A big mistake commonly made by the financial failures is conforming. Listen to the advice of mother’s: â€Å"If so and so jumped off a cliff would you?† Don’t do what everyone else is doing; dare to be different! Don’t be afraid to take calculated risks. This does not mean that you can actually jump off of a cliff, because that would be a foolish risk, this means again to foresee the results and consequences of your actions. The successful people in society are the ones who don’t do the same thing as everyone else. For example, look at the modern art. This type of art is so profitable because it is so different from any other art created. It is also important to beware of credit. Don’t borrow excessively, because it will soon become debt, which has interest and other consequences. Instead, set a budget and stick to it firmly! Attitude is also an issue in financial success. If a person has a poor attitude, he will only get what he deserves! If the worst is expected, the worst will happen. It all comes down to the power of one’s mind. Think positively! When setting goals, focus on the positive aspects, and don’t include any negative words. Everything can be rephrased to be positive. Successful people are optimists!
